It’s been a good year for the performance bike segments which manufacturer is really getting into the act for a change. They’re concentrating more on performance rather than usual skip a dip in a question. There’s been more into scooters and salute OHS and stuff like that rather than concentrating on things that they’re really good at.
The performance by all that’s about to change with the advent of the all-new supersport Yamaha YZF r3. The first thing you notice about the artery are the generous proportions. In fact, it pretty much looks like a full-blown sports bikes now. The ar-15 is already a good-looking motorcycle and Yamaha made sure the ab c– looks no less. The rDNA styling of Yamaha YZF r3 pretty much looks like scaled on objects. Yamaha’s true-blue racing DNA and cuffs the r3 the split twin headlights look gorgeous.
The fairing and the race tile daylight are reminiscent of Yamaha’s finned r6 from head to toe. Everything looks just perfect whether its level of quality of parts or even the fitment of every panel. The r3 proves that a fully faired motorcycle can be made rattle-free and look top-notch as well. It doesn’t get a lot of features and misses out on stuff like an adjustable clutch or brake levers or even upside down folks. It gets a nifty multifunctional instrument control that shows you all the information you need including a gear indicator. Now the heart of the r3 is an inline 2 cylinder motor.
As expected from Yamaha it boasts an extremely refined unit and also a very linear power delivery but make no mistake. This is a seriously quick motorcycle this can do a hundred kilometres per hour in under six seconds and go on to hit a top speed of over 170 kilometers an hour. Its serious performance the engine uses forged aluminum pistons to keep the weight low and still resist high temperatures. The r3 using all aluminium dies in a cylinder to ensure good heat dissipation and of course for the weight reduction.
The r3 in the city is a breeze the motorcycle feels calm and composed and it’s lightweight of just 169 kgs is a blessing. We wrote it for a couple of days in peak Mumbai city traffic. The r3 didn’t have any heating issues at all the 6-speed gearbox is part of smooth and you barely feel like. You’re riding a sports bike but the true power and capabilities of the r3 come alive when it’s out on the highway. On open roads, you can truly enjoy what the r3 has to offer.
Yamaha has surprisingly done away with the delta box frame using the r15 have instead gone with steel diamond-type frame. This has made the motorcycle lighter while still maintaining excellent rigidity and balance. The suspension setup is tuned just right and is setup soft enough to give you a comfortable ride. On bumpy city roads and it’s still stiff enough to corner at high speeds the 298 mm discs.
In the front and 220 mm discs at the rear do a good job of bringing the motorcycle to a halt. The r3 doesn’t get abs in our opinion motorcycles like the r3 that offer brilliant performance need to come with ABS is standard. The MRF tyres on the r3 of decent feedback and grip but clearly have the limitations. You won’t be able to push the r3 as far as it can go but for regular riding conditions.
The MRFs work quite well now the r3 is the last bike in its segment and you already have the competition that’s been existing for a while. Now theoretically speaking that might get the competition in it but then Yamaha has always been a brand synonymous with performance and quality.
They might have arrived at the party late but they made sure they arrived at the bank. This is an expensive motorcycle to buy but then if you’re looking at an entry-level sports bike with the proper big bike field the yamaha r3 is a very nice proposition. How would you justify the athletes existence without comparing it to the competition here’s one let’s go taste that one down you.
