So today I want to do a review on my 2016 Yamaha r1 so I’m on the bike for a little over a month. It’s got fifteen hundred and eighty-three miles on it right now. To be honest, I really love it it’s really a well-designed well engineered Yamaha YZF R1 bike but there are definitely a few things I want to talk about. I feel like the best place to start reviewing this bike. Probably with what I would say is the most important part of the bike. That’s the brakes it’s an extremely fast motorcycle and you know with that kind of speed you need good brakes. This bike has a unified braking system so if I apply a whole bunch of the front brake. It’s going to apply a rubric for me it also has ABS obviously which seems to work really well. I’ve only had a kick in maybe once or twice and I didn’t feel like it was kicking in too early. I don’t really ride the bike in V mode I’m cruising around out here in the country or I’m just going somewhere. I’ll usually have it B mode site use power level to track to draw three and slide control. I have quick shifter and lift control on and the quick shifter works really well. It’s really smooth that’s it just does what it’s supposed to do. This fight comes from the factory with Bridgestone battle-ax tires on it they’re really nice tires. I think when I do need to change tires I’ll probably end up going with q3s because everybody loves it. The sixtieth-anniversary model so it’s more expensive than regular R1.
In other countries, it comes with a crop of its slip-on but here in the US you have to add that on your own which I did. I also added frame sliders but those are the only two things I’ve done to the bike.Ao far the controls and the handlebars are positioned on this bike is really nice. I think it’s not super comfortable but it’s definitely right for this kind of bike for this type of aggressive bike and the controls are all pretty well laid out. I think with your mode select buttons and your scroll knob over here it also, of course, has a lap timer up here that’s this little trigger looking thing. Fuel economy on this bike is not the best in the world but then again what do you really expect. The seat is I got somewhat comfortable it’s definitely a very aggressive position kind of what you would expect out of a liter bike. Another thing is mirrors it seem to be really nice they don’t have a lot of vibration. I know some people take the mirrors turn signals integrated so that’s kind of hard but I’ve never really understood taking the mirrors off. It’s just kind of to me it just seems like you’re taking away functionality. I know a lot of people complain about the way the front of these things looks. Some people love them some people hate them I know some people say the two headlights down below look kind of stupid which I guess they might depending on how you depending on.
I guess what you think looks good I really like the look of this bike.I didn’t have spent you know a whole bunch of money buying it. They seem to function really well at night you get a good amount of light. High beam works really nice you get a good amount of illumination which is definitely important considering I ride out here in the country a lot. There aren’t any streetlights and there’s a lot of deer so headlights are really important to me. Another thing people have asked me in multiple times is if this bike okay for the street is this good bike to commute on. To be honest, I’m going to go with probably not in traffic this bike gets very hot and it gets very uncomfortable. In my opinion, if you’re looking for a four-cylinder liter bike so not including things like the tools. That’s a v4 I’m talking inline 4 so not the Super Duke I would go with either the FC 10 or the BMW s1000 single. I think those are both really good four-cylinder inline liter bikes that can be used on the street for commuting. The next thing I wanted to talk about is the power of this bike.
The power and torque in this bike is I guess pretty much what you would expect out of a brand new leader bike. It’s you know pretty much got power everywhere and it’s got a whole lot of power and I think it delivers it in a really nice way. I really don’t mean to be I don’t know to kiss this by TAS. I really just don’t have a whole lot of stuff that bothers me. I’m gonna go find a nice place to get off and do a little walk around. It’s a little bit dirty right now it’s all the bugs out here but we’ll do a little walk around for you. I have the crop of itch slip-on exhaust and Shogun frame sliders on it. Right now and I really like the way it looks I also mentioned that. People sometimes comment that they don’t like to look at the front of this with the two headlights underneath. The functionality is good so I really don’t mind it at all. I think it looks pretty cool some other people also said I shouldn’t gotten the 60th anniversary one with yellow. I really like it so of course, it has the gold wheels which are pretty cool. I also like the way the backseat I think it’s pretty cool. I’ve had one passenger on the back of this thing and that was interesting. So if you’re looking at getting one of these I would say go ahead and do it. It’s an awesome bike, in my opinion, yeah that’s pretty much it.
