Hey Ronnie monetizing their motorcycles again and today I’m going to take the v-strom thousand and the 650 out backs back to see what they like and also to see which one I would want and for what reasons I would want either one this one as you can see is very yellow somebody visited Sookie Rhys trim thousands there also make a 650 they are both v-twins they are both of a similar ish size I believe the Suzuki V Strom 1000 bike touch a bit thinner I’ve never ridden the V Strom 1000 Suzuki before I have written a thousand before and that’s why I’m running it again just to refresh my memory and then I’m going to try the 650 but I’ve got a route that I’m going to do the same route on both bikes it’s got various different sorts of riding conditions in it so we can see what each one is like individually now let’s see I am 6 foot 4 as you may well know if you watched on my reviews and for once I can say this bike fits lean lovely nice big comfy seating position so I did the tangka rounded out where my knees are I would much rather they were rounded in because it basically makes you feel like you’re pinching the tank what you shouldn’t sing position very upright and neutral very very upright like nice straight back straight arms not quite straight but slightly bent elbows and we do this that’s it you can adjust it I think that’s as far as it goes like a ho-ass if we get wind protection working on it the first thing I notice is the riding quality is very smooth the engine is a little bit it’s got a little bit of a vibration you can feel it working the big honking great bigger v-twin so you got two 500cc cylinder for nine OCC syllabus sounded up and down you’re going to you’re going to feel some of that but it’s not too much when you’re just cruising and that’s one of the things it’s like obviously it’s strong advantage and indeed four thousand over the 650 is that you’re going longer distance if you’re touring and you’re taking your pillion or not gear with you to have that extra power the extra torque would be great but to say that this doesn’t feel heavy you know it doesn’t feel necessarily like a big honking bike it’s good incredibly long gearing I’m in for sat at 70 during 5,000 rpm I don’t really feel like I wanted to go up any higher it’s still got good amount off there fart let’s see the traffic on your stop between get it into a high gear if it’s still got the call for in six yeah it’s still going you can tell it’s struggling a little bit there so very very long gearing now this long gearing aid wonderful we’re sitting on roads like they’re you know just cruising along but I wonder how that’s going to translate when we get to twisty country roads which we are going to do so we’re going to repeat the exact same route of the 650 and see how they compare side by side it’s a bit of a train you really don’t notice it picking up speed but it picks it up for quickly when protection is not to be working because that thoughts are one of reasons I’m not noticing the fact that I’m doing smiles now these handles are slow stuff very well actually I’m in second during 30 and it doesn’t feel like it’s about a stool it feels comfortable and happy and as weird because it’s got long gears if things have so much just momentum in the engine and so much talk this has got a proper um self-talk it’s really good you just feel it instant Paul I’d like to be a little less movement in the beginning of the throttle so that’s just an adjustment now between the two bikes the controls are very very much the same and technician it isn’t a big fancy flashy LED it’s very simple display but of course remember this thing is a lot cheaper so that saves you money most information still you got no temperature MPGs in the fuel levels gear position speed air temperature by temperature traction control you know it’s time all the basic information that you need your lights are around the main dial there with a few lights phobia stress control stuff a 12-volt outlet right there that’s handy of a seat a lot of people body spikes do a lot of long miles riding that means you want to have a GPS if you’re not having a wired directly into the bikes there you go your power straight liner changing modes down with mode obviously got all the standard buttons high-low pass beam horn indicators start button stop start it’s all pretty standard fare and this screen exactly does this look okay you sort of go step by step by step until the last one of the niccola’s back so one two there we go it’s hot as position now obviously there are places that you can see a little bit of money is being saved the side stand is just a bar that’s being squished and flattened out to give you the sides down but it works nothing on this looks or feels too cheap and it looks very solid good plastics nice feeling seat very likes weighty very very grippy particularly on the edges not so much on the top huge exhaust then at least bikes aren’t really about sound of such a lie that does not butterfly valve in the exhaust that’s interesting looks wise for an adventure bike that’s pretty cool stop too garish it doesn’t look too offensive it’s got choir quite a happy little face yeah I kind of see spaces and bikes inside very very very muffled engine bearing is not too quick but not too heavy and slow response is good it’s nice it feels good in the corners this is a very very bumpy road I know this it’s got a horrible texture to it as well and I’m not really feeling any of it the suspension and tires are working nicely together to soften out the road and the field and not translating into the bars much at all there is a bit of a shake you get from there’s only a small small amount if this cup spindle right it’s very linear obviously torque engines they give you linear our street proportion generally because you don’t have a power band in here you don’t have anything like that like all nice good field turning circles good my feelings I have been writing this slide before we’re not very reliable because that we’ve done on the day we rode for other bikes and very tired it was very hot we were in a group of people out my own it’s a very very pleasant bike to ride it’s very quick but it’s very uneventful is very comfortable is very good but exactly what you want in a community I’d like we’re not really not really traveling touring staying a bit v-twin he should have good engine braking oh that’s interesting hmm doesn’t wipe your face off so could this have a slipper clutch maybe I’m not sure I’ll have to find that out between switch and voiceover if it’s not a standard clutch then I’m quite surprised by that I thought I’d have more engine braking much more aggressive thing but it’s nice because it means that when you let off you don’t go look through and then when you gotta throw system because some of these wings can be a bit unfit skating that way that you have to be very smooth it because on and off is very much a proper sale if you know what I mean and said that you know what I mean you know that any cookies are man it’s a beautiful day I’m lucky if I get to do things like this back brake is nice an usable and it’s in a nice position that you don’t feel like you’re having to kick your foot up in the air to foil or too low it’s just perfectly their natural point you can kind of register it above it and then just give yourself a little tap when you need a bit of rear brake it just got masses and mattre power you don’t use half the roll at any point you don’t need to really yeah sure you can tell summer – and the dials and the look of things on the bike that it is definitely not as premium as the BMW using barrel flexing applauded strongly so the everyday man who doesn’t want to put that much money into a machine this thing is someone else and I’m hoping that the 650 is all of this but just a bit more fun because you can use more of the engine when I came into this I thought I was probably going to prefer the 650 more than a thousand and I honestly honestly don’t know now because I feel so differently about this right when I get off the first test ride and that’s something there should be said sometimes the conditions of the test ride can ruin the feel of the bike key because if you feel frustrated that you can’t actually try and use it or you’re riding with a lot slower riders much nicer to get out on one bike by yourself and experience it like you would that we’re home in motorcycles it’s great and a lot of other dealers you can go down there and try a bike out see what it would be like slow it kind of feels like a big heavy SM in a way the seating positions that if someone is real comfortable for you guys with a wider stance but still I do my biggest gripe is why is the tank outward not in words beneath because it means your contact point is very small it’s very slightly so earth and tank had to be good on this the tails and is definitely a much taller thicker looks like it might be slightly longer machine bigger wheels looks a lot smaller maybe a little lower I should make it nice and nippy sort of flickable this would be really interesting to see the difference between the two okay so straight on to the 650 as you can see controls are the same leave is look very very similar you still got your charging point down here same source screen same thrashing feel pretty much the same it’s justa ball this doesn’t appear to be as easily adjustable or much more much more sensitive Koch sounds similar just a little little less beefy definitely a small feeling definitely lower I’m definitely a little bit more cramped up the tanks killed those outwards then it’s not so wide so you can grip it a little bit more but we think that the the thousand dogs have a little crotch and I would suggest if a 650 doesn’t they’re very different feel they go in the up through the gears a lot quicker much smaller and Nikia feeling you definitely definitely have to use the engine more on this it doesn’t feel anything nearly as powerful but in a way that’s really nice and it’ll be interesting to see how it does in the right way and then in those country roads again definitely no slipper culture later on you I’m totally different yeah you have to try to go faster on this however 712 now fifth gear 5,000 rpm very very comfortable they’re lacking on the power of the overtake we have to go down again yeah still a little bit laughing still comparatively lacking yeah it’s got power but it is nothing like that vast amount of just untapped power that you use on the thousand you know you’re just dipping into it here and there you’re not really using all of it on this it’s more about using all the power of the engine and using the gears now see my theories always been that that would make this bike a lot more fun and I think you’re probably will in the countryside and through the twisty roads in cities and stuff it’s got nice smooth drop and roll it a little more jerky for the bottom holding is nice it cracks lovely smooth vention I’ve noticed I’m flashing a bit more on this because I’m trying to keep out the wind a bit definitely lighter definitely easier to throw into corners not the only other one isn’t it’s just more natural because it’s dry it’s funny the big thousand felt like a super motor in a weird way this feels more like a like an a3 doesn’t have that same exact thing is that the rake of a steering feels we different it’s a little heavier a little it tracks a bit more like a naked or a sports like opposed to something like an identity very hard for a thing wrong but I think the main difference between these two bikes you’re making the consideration is just going to be the amount of power you have available you can do both on both you could go touring on this you could go community on this and the same for the other one but I think this is more spirited for the country road and people that prefer this feeling of bike you really do need to test for both of them if you’re trying to make a decision and hazely are very happy to let people do that you know backpack like I’m doing here take one out then take the other I did I really loved the feel of a thousand you get into the country road and instantly you find yourself coming more alive on this now you’re using more engine you’re using more gears like just funny noise it makes it weird I can’t walk out with an induction noise a lot okay it’s very quickly as you can see controls are the same traction control is the same screen it’s the same that’s all the same some this look a little cheap on this just a little tiny tiny bit although all the sides down you actually get a whirl deployed on it rather than it just being a squeeze tube very different machine I think I think if you are shorter than me you would just fall in love with this if you’re taller you’ll just love that thousand because it actually feels like it’s the right height but the rounded tanks is not something on a big fan of I’d like to put an ease on it a bit but for the feel through the corners using the engine being a little bit lighter this does feel much more maneuverable much more fun you use it you begin to go into corner you have to concentrate walking going in to make sure you’ve got enough power to come back out I remember the rough road the other suspension does on this one excellent really good really smooth out again you wouldn’t know these bikes are both pretty much as good in each other there isn’t a lot picked from apart from the engine and power delivering in the overall weight and size that makes this I I’m not surprised people get so sore confused as to which one to go for but I think I’m starting to form my my opinion on which one you’d want or these which one I’d want and got brilliant Paul I am I am properly surprised and impressed I had a few preconceptions which I tried to not bring into this and they have been smashed with by both bikes and both for good reasons it’s gone coming up mm on to the 650 it can feel like the 650 is lacking a little bit of power you know you really can use all of it but let’s give them I’m having a bit of fun today but I do feel there’s a binky you could make at the beach from 800 literally in every single way make it a milligram middle ground in power and size and shape and everything between the thousand and the 650 and you all have one sorted machine okay so now for the really tricky part if I was to pick one to own because it feels so large and comfortable and and today and nice I would personally 1000 however that thing is a blast it’s very is light chuckle you’ll have much more fun in the country roads and probably wider that around town they’re probably both for commuting up equally I would say but in the country roads you can shut that around more it’s more maneuverable etcetera etcetera that thing is very shockable it’s very removable but it it just doesn’t feel quite as alive as that does so if you’re in the UK and is just using it as a riding bike and you don’t want something that’s really really quick go for the 600 650 but equally you can go for the thousand I think what you can equally do that the difference is though if you’re going to do Euro trips if you’re going to take a pillion for long distance and stuff thousand thousand thousand all day long because that you can feel and you’re on sort of you know you can use all of the Power and if you have a second person on it’s still going to be great but you’re going to feel a little bit of resistance that has got so much power though even with a second person you’re probably still not going to use it and one thing I should mention I noticed is I’m always check the sails and had it before yep they both got adjustable rear suspension and so if you’re taking a pillion you can crank it up and crank it down quickly so you can adjust it so difficult to pick between them but as I say I think it comes down to what you would prefer if you’re really really tall you’re probably want that if you want to hang this a bit more Larry you can go for that if you want to go long distance you can go for that if you want to commute you think after both and in every single one of those situations you can still have one on the other and that is why it’s so difficult to pick that’s why it’s so hard because they both can do it but one has a strength of power and distance and comfort and two dateless and the other one has a benefit of Loreena sand and chuckle baldness even though that is still terrible there’s your answer it’s not even an answer thank you very much to Hazel motorcycles for letting me do this head-to-head of these two bikes apologies to the chap who is going to have to clean all these splatted flies off of them and trust me there is a lot it don’t forget to like the video and subscribe to the channel to see more things like this thanks guys
