Today is a good day I want to review my Suzuki dr650s motorcycle. The Suzuki dr650s is a really good bike in my opinion but it doesn’t come without its flaws. Dr650 is lightweight compared to some of the bigger bikes like the KLR. It’s also heavy compared to like the dr z 400 or the w WR 450. I got about two thousand miles on it I haven’t any problems. I like almost everything the simplicity of the bike very few electronic systems. It’s just lights and a motor that’s the thing I like it makes it easy to work on. The thing I don’t like is a few more electronics I’m kind of torn between what to do. Should I add some electronics? should I just keep it simple? The dr650 is it’s got a cult I mean people are loyal to this bike. There are many forums to help you out if you ever are trying to work on your bike.

You’re not really sure how to go about something or what’s happening. Many forums will help you out because we have a strong call full cult. Let’s talk about the suspension on a dr650 especially as a larger rider. I’m a bigger guy and I absolutely hated the suspension course on pushing over 250 pounds. Maybe for the average rider is not that bad but even through forms and stuff, I’ve heard just the average riders complain. The first thing I did was upgraded my rear spring and front fork springs and that made a big improvement. The other things I did not like about this bike were the waffle grips so I immediately change out the grips. Those other waffle grips are incredibly uncomfortable. The dr650 had a pretty terrible sound stock so I ended up getting a new muffler and a new header. My handlebars are like the fourth time it was dropped it bent so I ended up half and they get a new pair handlebars. I know I’m sounding pretty negative about all these things.

Some of this stuff was pretty cheap for the price you get the dr650. The KTM and some other bikes out there to throw on these little extras. It won’t hurt you that much you’ll actually still be saving. In my opinion, the stock tires that come on this bike I think they’re the trail wings are the worst. If you plan on ever taking it under I don’t know what kind of trails you have around your place. I went on that those stock tires will barely let me climb anything without slipping. The first things I did as well as got rid of stock tires. It’s super cheap to get tires I have the Kenda k2 70s on this bike. For both front and back it was 90 92 dollars or something like that for both of them. The fuel tank on here this little guy I’m looking to replace it if you saw when I first started talking about reviewing the bike. You notice I don’t know if you did them on the back I have a Wolfman bottle bag that I keep a one-liter bottle of fuel in.

I think the tank here is like three and a half gallons. Either way, it’s not that much and for a bike with the capabilities of doing long-distance trips. It’s surprising that the tank size is so small. I really am looking forward to being able to provide myself with the service maybe a gallon tank. I just don’t feel safe going you know very far on this thing. As far as pickup and speed though this bike is a torque monster. You have to respect it, especially on the dirt. When you’re on the dirt and you throttle it you can easily just wipe yourself out the high-end speed. Isn’t that much I think with the trail wings before I got my more off-road gear tires. The trail wings I first got the bike I did say a hundred 100 102 I just got it over a hundred miles an hour. If you’ve looked at any other reviews on this bike no matter what year it is the one thing they all have in common is the seat. The seat is terrible but luckily there’s places like seat concepts that offer 150 hundred and sixty dollars seat kit that you can rewrap the seat.

It’s just as good as a three or four hundred dollar seat another thing I didn’t like about this bike was the mirrors. The mirrors I don’t know my first crash I scuffed up one of the mirrors. I just really like this double-take mirror because you can get it totally out of the way by just annoying this random out and flip it over and tightening it back up . I don’t like but they’re good mirrors I mean they’re decent mirrors when you’re on road.  I guess what I should have said at the beginning of this video is I’m more geared toward off-road so a lot of these complaints are complaints I have when I’m off-road. They’re hard to move and you know you don’t really need a mirror when you’re off-road that much except to see if your buddies falling down or not. This mirror will do that just fine but the other mirrors for on-road they’re great big mirrors have a wide field of vision.

Sometimes I’m a little bigger guys on my shoulders and arms tend to get in the way of the view. I really liked them for on the road just off-road they’re terrible. Here is a little Wolfman fuel pouch I was talking about earlier. It’s just a little 1-liter bottle but it’ll get me you know 15 miles further if I run out of gas. We also agree that the bike here is kind of ugly. I mean I’ve seen some 96 models that just have a better. It’s a personal opinion you know arch is in the eye of the beholder. What I do like about this bike is everything I haven’t mentioned. Don’t get me wrong I know I’m sitting here sounding pretty negative about it but in reality this bike it’s pretty amazing. It starts up every time it’s very trustworthy it will get you out of almost anything. You get yourself into it’s fun it’s easily customizable to make it your own.

It’s torquey as all get-out it’s simple it’s fast when you need it to be. On the trails, you can roostertail all over the place. It’s just a good bike I know I said a lot of negative things but all those were just my personal opinion. It really hurt the overall feel I mean this engine on this bike is great.  I’m not even disputing that and that’s really the important part. I mean the engine get anywhere you need to go starting every time powering through the stuff. You need power through those are the important parts of a motorcycle the look of it and all the mirrors. All that stuff’s customizable and I had a cruiser before this and my complaints are much of the same.
