I’m Darrell Eklund this is the first 2018 launch we’ve had out of state. We’re in North Carolina at the JD our track this is the facility where they do all the testing. The 2018 suzuki rmz450 introduction you know already this bike is all new to the ground up. We’re not gonna get into every single detail about this Suzuku rmx450 bike because for the one you probably know about it. We go into the specifics about this bike but for now, I’m going to give you guys what you really want. I’m gonna get dressed and give you the first impression on the 2018 Suzuki rmz 450.
The air boot it’s pretty much as KTM through all the body. The objectives at the bottom this goes mild changes. Really made the power spread higher all the way from the bottom to the top. The 17 engine was pretty flat on top and it really pulls pretty far. Now we try to cup a coupler that is pretty similar to the lane. I prefer the lean the coupler it gives you a more bottom where you don’t have to get out. The clutch as much and it kind of just pulls. The rich coupler it was lazy for me a more vet novice. Intermediate especially like a harder pack tracks.
They would really probably go that way with its suspension forks. They finally move almost a little too much. I’m a little heavier than most guys initially like there are some big jumps out here. The JDR track a really steep and when I over jump this a little bit they fought them to doubt. They fought that hard there’s like the initial stiff spot at the end of four but then it kind of blows through. We just adjusted these Forks to clicks in and it literally kind of fixed. I was going through just one click makes a big difference which is nice you have a broad range of adjustment.
We started at 105 stags we’re at 108 now Suzuki still goes by a turn at all cost monster. It’s more than last year before it just wants to oversteer like crazy. This is nice and then you kind of stand up in the corner so it doesn’t flow through it lowering the SAG to 108 stiffen up. The forks and stiffen up the rebound in the rear. It’s balanced out the bike a lot better making kind of track. All the through the corner this is still a great turning bike it kind of reminds me of that 18 Yamaha. It had a lot more weight on the front end and wanted to kind of just oversteer coming in.
With the sag and stuff we kind of balance that out making it lower the stock coupler. I was kind of it was just kind of dying on me when I got hot here. The lean cover fixes that right up so overall like I said this is just first-day testing. We have a few our hours on it out here in North Carolina. It’s really deep it’s not like our Southern California dry hard-packed track. I definitely give this bike a few thumbs up compared to the bikes that have been grown along. It wasn’t a bad bike and I mean it was just old it was outdated but we have a couple more months assessing. We’re gonna get this bike in California in the next few weeks getting used to the bike.
